Kinked explores emerging materialities from spectral transformations feeding the PA with sub movements and sharp highs in an electro-acoustic ritual of densities and digital voids.
Their compositions, and their live versions, speaks through primal expressions of removal, shame, desire, drawing from deep emotional and gut-level instincts. Raw Supercollider codes, forgotten VSTs, vocal gestures, pre-recorded soundwalks scores and binaural field-recordings are the instruments of their live set.
The set comes in 3 different versions:
• One that fits with fullrange, ideally quad, P.A.
The performer is standing composing a score of fields while various spectral processes morph the sources of the sound.
This technical complexities and visceral loudness talks about machine-desires and situated emotions, flesh and bone, water and stone, while still recalling the emerging materialities from the spectral territory;
• The dilated version fits into small venues with stereo P.A.+Sub. It is a sonic path where narratives of removal are revealed through lossy voices, morphing field-recordings, Supercollider Physical Models, pure wavelets and FFT analysis.
• The third type is a dense, piercing, dissociative live performance where only a single device, made by 5 different FFT processes, plays a flux of sounds revealing hidden qualities of different memories. It is a deep exploration of the spectral territory, ideal for small venues with small P.A. and experimental forms of listening.
Kinked is co-owner of the experimental label Riforma, is also known as visual artist Lapo Sorride and singer/lyricist Dori Sorride.
They curate the mix series Hypersigil✨, showcased on Radio.Syg.Ma.
Lives in Berlin, and is a witness of the South Italian Diaspora.
FFT_materialism speaks about a memory that abandons the shapes of mental processes, revealing its material quality— its emergence is facilitated by the Fast Fourier Transformations. A presence (perhaps present-sentence?), a Ghost that, from the shell, acts on its indeterminacy. This sub-liminal leviathan emerges from the interactions between the human, digital, and what's in between and around.
This Ghost whose Spectre we can visualize: a lingering presence that keeps affecting this new ground, speaking Phantasmic sigils already present in the relations between the human and the temporal.
Is this spectral ecology a witness to multiple temporalities, a Present Dense that lifts me from the responsibility of dissolving?
During the performance, I offer my hand to the Ghost, whose agency spreads from a spectral territory revealing piercing topographies, dilated and glacial numerical depths, filling the room with digital voids.
